You’ll Like It Here (Everybody Does)- by Ruth White

Appearances can be deceiving. Sometimes all is not as it seems to be.  This is the situation when 6th grader Maggie Blue and her family arrive in a place called “Fashion City”.  Although this city appears to be a utopia, with everything in order and everyone seeming to be happy, Maggie and her family soon find out that the city is controlled by the “Fathers”, and many restrictions apply.  Individuality is suppressed, and no one can waiver from the rules which have been established. This is a fascinating science fiction novel which will cause the reader to question and evaluate how we live today in our own society.  It will cause one to look at our own creativity and uniqueness, and realize how many freedoms we enjoy and sometimes take for granted. The reader will be captivated by this story when it is revealed that Maggie and her family are aliens, and much intrigue and suspense builds up as the plot thickens, and the inevitable need to escape “Fashion City” prevails.
