Description: WHYY Bridging Blocks Community Conversations presents a discussion about whether social media helps or harms society and the influence it has on U.S. and global populations.

In the United States, there are over 310 million social media users. That's 91% of the country’s estimated total population of 343 million. Globally, 6 billion are social media users, which is just under 70% of the world’s 8.3 billion people, data from the 2025 Statista Research Department shows.
