High School Buddies - Entering Grades 9-12
Elementary School Buddies - Entering Grades 1-3
Program Location: StoryLab (Children's Library)
Description: "High School Buddies" (grades 9-12) volunteer to read with "Elementary School Buddies" (grades 1-3) to build skills, confidence, and mentorship over time. Buddies must plan to attend all or most of the sessions.
This program IS NOT:
- tutoring
- babysitting
- focused on explicitly teaching children how to read
This program IS:
- intended to boost positive associations with reading in a fun and casual atmosphere
- a meaningful teen volunteer opportunity
- fun for Elementary School Buddies and High School Buddies!
Registration is required for BOTH teen volunteer and elementary students. Registration for both age groups opens on 6/8.
